Use the workflow editor to change the steps a workflow runs. The editor saves your changes as you make them. When the workflow is ready, publish it as a revision. A project keeps using the revision it is bound to until you bind a new one.
Who can do this: In a project, the Owner and Editor can edit and publish.
The canvas shows each step as a box, grouped into lanes by stage: Ingest, Pre-check, Standardize, Privacy and so on. Each box has input ports on the left and output ports on the right. A line joins an output to an input. Drag a step to move it.
The top bar shows the workflow name, its revision (for example Draft r1) and whether the changes are saved. It also has the Problems count, Estimate, Test on sample and Publish.
Open the workflow editor
In the project sidebar, open Workflow, then choose Edit workflow. If the project has no workflow yet, choose Set up workflow. You can also open a team template and choose Open editor.
Add and connect steps
Add an algorithm from the editor's algorithm list as a step. Each step runs one algorithm. To connect two steps, drag from the output port on the right of one step to the input port on the left of the next. The editor refuses a line when the two ports carry different kinds of data, or when it would loop back to an earlier step.
Set the failure policy
Select a step, then open the Execution tab of the step panel. Open the Stop on failure list. Choose Stop on failure to stop the whole workflow when this step fails, or Continue on failure to let the other steps keep running. Steps that need this step's output can be skipped.
Publish the revision
Choose Publish at the top right. It is available when the workflow is saved and has no problems. To see a problem, open Problems and choose it; the editor shows its step.
The Publish workflow dialog shows a Revision summary of what changed. Add a release note if you want, then confirm the publish.
Compare revisions
When a workflow has an earlier revision, the workflow page offers Compare with the previous revision. The Compare revisions page shows the steps that changed between the two revisions.
Publish is not available
Save the workflow and fix every problem under Problems. Publish stays unavailable until both are done.
Changed by someone else
The editor shows Changed by someone else when another person changed the workflow. Choose Reload, then make your change again.
