An episode is one segment cut from a recording, with its task, outcome and quality checks. Use this page to filter episodes, open one to review its timeline and cameras, label them in bulk, and pass the selection to a labeling job or a dataset version.
Who can do this (project roles): Viewer, Uploader, Reviewer, Editor and Owner can view. Owner and Editor can set fields in bulk and create versions. Owner, Editor, Reviewer and Labeler can label.
Before you start
- Recordings must be processed before they have episodes. If the project has no recordings yet, upload recordings first.
Open Episodes
In the sidebar, under the project, choose Episodes. The page lists every episode in the project, in grid view by default.
Filter the list
Use the filter row above the list to narrow it down. More filters adds numeric conditions such as duration, frame rate, camera count and idle share, and filters by recording or tag.
| Area | What it does |
|---|---|
| ① Verdict | Filter by quality result: Pass, Warning, Fail, Incomplete or Not checked. |
| ② Label state | Filter by Suggested, Labeled, Approved or Rejected. |
| ③ Split | Filter by Train, Val or Test. |
| ④ Outcome | Filter by Success, Failure or Partial. |
| ⑤ More filters | Filter by duration, frame rate, camera count and idle share. |
Open an episode
On an episode card, choose Annotate. The review page opens for that episode. Use Table at the top to switch to a table with one row per episode.
Review the episode
The track shows where the episode starts and ends and where the playhead is. The camera views follow the playhead. The save status below the video shows whether your changes are saved.
| Area | What it does |
|---|---|
| ① Episode track | Shows the start and end of the episode. Move the playhead along the track. |
| ② Camera views | Shows each camera at the playhead position. |
| ③ Side panel | Sets the task, outcome, subtasks and comment for the episode. |
| ④ Save status | Shows Saved, Saving, Offline or Newer revision. |
Keyboard shortcuts for marking the start and end of an episode are listed under Keyboard shortcuts. For a human recording, the camera view can also show hand keypoints.
Set the task and outcome
In the side panel, choose the Task and the Outcome of the episode. In the Subtasks section, add subtasks when the episode has several steps.
Create a labeling job from the selection
Tick the checkbox on each episode card, or on a row in table view, to select episodes. Hold Shift to select a range. The bar above the list shows how many are selected. Choose Create job to start a job for them.
The job is set up on the Annotate page.
What happens next
To build a dataset version from the selection, choose Create version at the top right. Episodes that fail a check, or have unfinished checks, are left out by default. You can include them when you create the version.
Troubleshooting
No episodes are listed
The recordings have not been cut into episodes yet, or no recording can be segmented. Re-upload any recording that failed, then check again.
Bulk actions are not available
Bulk actions are turned off when more than 50,000 episodes match the filters. Narrow the filters first, then select.
An episode is missing from a version
Check its Verdict. Episodes that fail a quality check are not included unless you choose Include episodes that failed quality checks when you create the version. Episodes whose quality checks have not finished need Include episodes whose quality checks have not finished.
